This retreat will be led by Rev. Eido Carney of the Olympia Zen Center.
Ryokan, the great hermit priest, poet and calligrapher, gave us an incomparable legacy of teachings for contemporary times. His life calls us to examine our own lifestyles in light of his vow and the difficult choices he made to fully live as a faithful pupil of the First Teacher with simply a robe and a bowl. His deep and complex Chinese poems reveal a Dharma teacher of profound mastery and wisdom, and are the groundwork for discernment in our own spiritual lives.
Those who have been to a retreat at the Abbey are welcome to attend.
