Rev. Master Jiyu-Kennett was the Founder and First Abbess of Shasta Abbey. At the request of her teacher, Keido Chisan Koho Zenji, she brought the teachings of Soto Zen Buddhism to the West after studying with him at Sojiji in Japan.
